100% Pinot Gris
Serendipity Estate, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand.
Fruit was hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed before fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and French oak puncheons. The wine remained on yeast lees for nine months to build texture, richness and flavour.
Bright even straw-yellow.
Ripe stonefruit aromas with hints of honey, beeswax and complex nuances.
Rich and mouthfilling with flavours of apple, spiced pear and ripe stonefruit. Flavour builds on the palate and combines with subtle lees and oak derived notes giving unctuousness without being cloying.
Match with Japanese, Thai or Vietnamese cuisine.
Serendipity Estate is a fantastic site for Pinot Gris. With its clay based soil and naturally high diurnal range, we are able to optimise flavour development while retaining acid to produce balanced, elegant wines. Along with its lovely ripe fruit aromas and flavours, this wine has seen 25% oak and extended time on lees to build richness and texture into what is essentially a dry wine.
Pinot Gris is a variety that will build flavour in the bottle with time. Drink with confidence over the next 3-5 years.
