100% Pinot Gris
100% Marlborough with over 80% sourced from our home Waihopai Valley vineyard.
Fruit was predominantly hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed before varying fermentation techniques were employed. Some parcels were fermented quickly at warm temperatures in oak puncheons in order to build a savoury profile. Others were slowly fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve aromatics while building richness.
Lifted aromatics of yellow stonefruits and florals, beeswax, pink lady apples and spice.
Rich yet dry with powerful flavours of stonefruits, spiced pear and beeswax. Flavour builds on the palate and combines with subtle lees and oak derived notes to give a layered mouthfeel while finishing dry and refreshing.
Lovely to drink on its own or match with Asian cuisine, charcuterie or white poultry dishes.
This wine was a pleasure to be involved with. Predominantly sourced from our home Waihopai Valley vineyard, we were fortunate enough to be able to optimise aromatics while retaining acid to produce a balanced elegant wine with a moderate alcohol level. Various techniques focusing on retaining lovely ripe aromas and flavours while at the same time building richness and texture have been employed to make a flavoursome, mouthfilling yet dry white wine.
Pinot Gris is a variety that will build flavour in the bottle with time. Drink with confidence through until 2017.
