100% Sauvignon Blanc

DISTRICT OF ORIGIN OF GRAPES

100% Marlborough, with 50% of fruit coming from our home vineyard in the Waihopai Valley.

VINIFICATION

The fruit was predominantly machine harvested (97%) with the clean juice inoculated with a variety of yeast cultures – some to accentuate aromatics, others to bring a textural component to the overall blend. Ferments were largely untouched allowing the fruit and sites to express themselves, and the wine remained unsulphured on yeast lees for 6 to 8 weeks post
fermentation to help add texture and build interesting nuances into the wine. Approximately 5% of the blend was fermented in either French oak puncheons or 4000L foudres at higher temperatures with heavy lees stirring post fermentation, adding a layer of richness and complexity to the palate. No acid, alcohol nor sugar adjustment has been used in this wine.

COLOUR

Pale straw/lemon.

NOSE

An alluring mix of citrus and tropical fruits with floral and herbal elements.

PALATE

Elegantly proportioned with citrus drive interwoven with tropical fruits and framed by lively acidity. Lees and oak derived notes add texture and nuance and the palate finishes soft and long with mineral tones.

FOOD MATCH

Enjoy with citrus-dressed salads, grilled vegetables, aromatic seafood dishes and fine asian cuisine.

WINEMAKERS COMMENTS

A near faultless summer of bright sunshine and moderate temperatures provided ideal conditions for producing naturally balanced fruit and wines at full physiological ripeness. As always with Catalina Sounds, we have allowed the fruit to tell its story and added an extra layer of interest via a small amount of oak fermentation and aging on yeast lees, to coax out the interesting textural elements of the wine.

Its zesty, lively and fragrant, dispalying passionfruit, feijoa, lime zest and
herbaceous aromas on the nose, followed by an intensity flavoured palate thats
filled with attractive flavours. The wine is crisp and lingering. At its best now until
2016.

Discreet but perfumed aroma, fresh and vital, with juicy peppermint overtones to
the citrus, herbal and tropical fruit fl avours. Very intense, clean, precise palate
with focused fl avour of great charm and pristine freshness. The fi nish lingers
long. This is a very entertaining wine and will delight Marlborough savvy lovers.
Very good intensity and palate length. A ripper.

Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the
rim. Refined and delicately expressed, ripe gooseberry aromas are lifted by
white fl oral and fresh herb notes on the bouquet. Dry to taste and mediumbodied,
smooth-flowing flavours of gooseberries, white florals and minerally
elements build on the palate, forming a positive core with linearity. The fruit has
some lusciousness enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity and the flavours are carried
by very fine phenolic textures to a detailed, dry finish. This is a refined and subtly
building Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and floral flavours.
Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and poultry over the next 2+ years.
